International Recovery Day is celebrated around the world.

Drug Prevention Network of Canada is a member of World Federation Against Drugs, (WFAD), and our organisation is committed along with WFAD in its’ dedication to promoting recovery efforts and spreading hope worldwide. Please see information below regarding the initiatives to continue to focus on recovery and to break the stigma that people in recovery face.

International Recovery Day Today, closing Recovery Month, we celebrate International Recovery Day, a day which is dedicated to promoting recovery efforts and spreading hope worldwide. Around the world, various buildings and landmarks will light up in purple, a colour that symbolises addiction recovery (see initiative here)

On this day, we want to highlight recovery as probable and possible. It remains an important task to spread positivity about recovery and break the stigma barriers that people in recovery face. Drug dependency is still in the first five most stigmatised health conditions in the world. Therefore, we would like to share our statement on International Recovery Day to not only share hope but also to raise awareness of the need to decrease stigma in public health care and communities to stop social exclusion, marginalisation, and discrimination against those in recovery.

As part of Recovery Month, we have shared various statements and efforts and activities promoting the CHIME model while sharing the hope and possibility of recovery. Access the articles via the links below:

Interviews with Recovery experts
For Recovery Month and Day, we conducted five interviews with experts in the field of recovery. During these interviews, our experts shared their views on Recovery and their work and efforts in promoting recovery science, activities, and news. Each expert has developed methods to share knowledge and positivity of recovery and you are invited to access their resources and provide input if wanted. We have created a compilation of all interviews but we highly recommend you to watch each full interview as well. Find the interviews via the links below!
